Suppose that you are to take part in a debate.  A debate has one team (pro) arguing for a certain change of policy while the other team (con) argues against making the proposed change.  If your last name begins with the letters A-M, you are on the Pro team.  If your last name begins with the letters N-Z, you are on the Con team.
